The Father vs. The Force

Many have burned out on religious fundamentalism and used the term "grace" to piggyback over into new age relativism. They have depersonalized God as merely being the origin, life force, the "universal now" or some other nebulous cosmic energy. How do those who once "knew the Gospel" arrive at such a conclusion?
