Sound of Heaven TV | Words Week 7: Basar (Good News) EP07
What if the gospel isn't an offer, but an announcement?
In the ancient world, when a king sent his army to war, the city waited for a runner. If the runner came over the hill shouting disaster, everyone packed up and fled. But if he came shouting basar, it meant one thing: the battle is over and your king has won.
Basar is the Hebrew root behind the word gospel. Isaiah saw it coming: "How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the one who brings good news." Jesus declared it from the cross: "It is finished." And on Resurrection morning, Mary Magdalene became the runner, telling the disciples, "I have seen the Lord."
This Easter finale ties together all seven words of the series. You are God's Selem. He yada'd you, formed you with Pala power, and your life produces Yare. When you broke, He nacham'd and moved to rescue you toward Shalom. That rescue is fueled by Hesed, guaranteed by Berith, and announced as Basar.
You're not waiting to find out who wins. The runner has already come. So stop fighting battles that have already been won for you.
