God’s Heart is Anchored in Love

We are created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27), and God is love (1 John 4:8). This profound truth means that we, too, are love. Before the world knew us, before our parents imagined us, we existed as a love print in the heart of God. The very first feeling we ever encountered was love—the love that came from being thought of and cherished by our Creator. This is why we seek love so deeply; it’s woven into our being. However, in our pursuit of fulfillment, we often look for love in all the wrong places, forgetting that the only source capable of truly satisfying this longing is God Himself.

The powerful love of God is unique. It’s unconditional, full of grace, and overflowing with mercy. Human love, while beautiful, can be judgmental, conditional, and fleeting. But God’s love is steady and unchanging. When we surrender to this love, we discover the capacity to love ourselves as He does. This transforms how we view and treat others. Jesus taught us, “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39). Yet, how can we love others well if we do not first know and embrace God’s love for ourselves?

Created in Love, Seeking Love

We were fully seen and fully loved from the very first thought of God. This is why we instinctively search for love and acceptance—because we were born of love. The only place we can learn to love ourselves authentically is through the love of God. His perfect love is what casts out all fear (1 John 4:18) and allows us to walk in confidence and peace. God’s love helps us to forgive not only others but also ourselves. It empowers us to let go of bitterness and embrace grace, ensuring that love becomes the root of who we are.

God's Love

Biblical Example: The Woman at the Well

Consider the story of the Samaritan woman at the well (John 4:1-26). She sought fulfillment in relationships, moving from one failed connection to another. When Jesus met her, He saw her completely—her past, her wounds, and her desires—and loved her just the same. Jesus’ interaction with her was not one of judgment but of grace and truth. He offered her living water, symbolizing the love and fulfillment only He could provide. Through this encounter, she discovered her true worth and ran to tell others about the One who knew her completely and still loved her.

Personal Testimony: Anchored in God’s Love

I have experienced firsthand the transformative power of God’s love. There were many times in my life when I felt unseen, unloved, too much,  and burdened by life’s pain and challenges. I sought validation from people and achievements, but it never filled the void. It wasn’t until I surrendered to God’s love and anchored myself in His truth that everything changed.

No matter what I face now—whether trials, disappointments, or the daily challenges of life—I know I can make it through because God is my source of love and truth. This foundation gives me the strength to forgive quickly and let love be the root of who I am and trust that no matter what I am facing, I win.

Forgiveness is not always easy, but knowing that God has forgiven all my transgressions enables me to extend the same grace to others. This doesn’t mean I don’t set boundaries; it means I allow God to be God in their lives as He has been in mine. His love is powerful enough to heal old wounds and guard against the hurts that can come daily. When love is our anchor, we become the light He calls us to be—reflecting His love to those around us. And when we get hurt, we turn to Him to heal and restore. His love is the answer. Love truly is all you need!

Living as God’s Light and Love

We are called to be the light and love of God in this world (Matthew 5:14-16). The only way we can do this is by staying tethered to Him, allowing His love to flow in and through us and transform us. The Lord has a plan for your and my life according to Jeremiah 29:11—a plan filled with hope and purpose. You are significant to His story. When you connect deeply with God’s love, you will see that He is making all things work together for your good (Romans 8:28). Through your love relationship with God, your story will unfold naturally.

Reflections -Anchored in God's Love

Reflect on this: God’s love isn’t just for the big moments but for the daily walk, the struggles, and the mundane. He wants to heal every area the world has tried to taint. To forgive quickly and let love be the root of who you are means surrendering to His love fully, trusting Him to work through the pain and joys of life.

Reflective Questions

  1. Are there areas in your life where you seek love and validation outside of God?
  2. How can you invite God’s love into the places where you feel unseen or unworthy?
  3. What steps can you take to tether yourself more closely to His love and truth?
  4. How can you reflect God’s love to others in your life, even in difficult circumstances?

Remember, you are fully seen, fully known, and fully loved by God—even now. Let His love be the anchor that grounds you and the light that leads you forward.
