📖 Questions Worth Exploring
When faith shifts and old frameworks fall away, many find themselves re-examining long-held doctrines and beliefs—including questions about Israel, its biblical identity, and its modern political state. Recently, GAN TV invited lovers and followers of Jesus who are navigating spiritual deconstruction or “rethinking God” to weigh in on this significant question:
Is the Israel of the Bible the same as the modern-day nation of Israel?
We posed this question through private polls across several online communities. The goal wasn’t to promote a particular position or be controversial—but to spark thoughtful reflection and respectful dialogue.

💬 Voices from the Conversation
Here are comments and reflections we are offering anonymously. These represent a range of thoughtful, personal responses—not conclusions, not meant to express doctrinal teaching, but we think they are worth sharing and possibly starting points to motivate deeper inquiry:
-
“I’ve been to the nation of Israel six times. I enjoy the sights and it makes the scriptures come to life. However, the apple of God’s eye is inclusive of all people. God so loved the world—kosmos. That includes Israel but is not exclusive of Israel. It isn’t replacement theology in my opinion. It’s placement theology. At the cross, the middle wall of division was torn down.”
- “Paul wrote ..For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel . Romans 9:6.Paul’s distinction became only those who are awakened to Christ within have become Israel. Which actually means. One who Rules as God in Hebrew”
-
“I think the whole thing is a controlled narrative that’s fed by obedience and a fear-based control system.”
-
“The question of whether biblical Israel and modern Israel are the same is complex. There’s continuity in peoplehood and heritage, but the theological and political frameworks are quite different.”
-
“How many know Jacob (Israel) had 12 sons. All of them were scattered. The Israel of today is not the people of the Old Testament.”
-
“I personally don’t know enough about the subject to weigh in. I didn’t even know this was a question in Christian circles until I came across a post by a Messianic Jewish teacher. Just food for thought, my brothers and sisters in Christ.”
-
“Jesus said their house was left desolate. The ‘first’ was taken away when the Temple was torn down in 70 AD. The corporate Body of Christ is now being built into the House of God. The only valid Israel is spiritual Israel—circumcision of the heart, not of blood or DNA.”
-
“Maybe the ‘land flowing with milk and honey’ isn’t geographic at all. Maybe it’s a state of awareness beyond fear, dogma, and deception—pure consciousness.”
-
“HE is inclusive ❤️.”
-
“It’s not black and white. Biblical Israel referred to a place and a people. Modern Israel includes many groups. There’s nuance and layers. Applying Greco-Roman thinking to Hebraic topics always complicates things.”
-
“This was No, then ‘the geography is close,’ then ‘some might be in,’ then ‘there always were some gentiles in the mix.’ Time has changed the concept of Israel.”
-
“We are born who we are… race, lineage… But Jesus completed reconciliation in His finished work. We are now all one with Him. The field is level. The crooked path made straight. What does it matter then about genealogies and kingdoms? To love one another as Christ loved us—that is true life.”
-
“The Israel in the Bible was a covenant people set apart for a redemptive purpose: to bring forth the Messiah. That purpose was fulfilled in Jesus. The modern nation of Israel, founded in 1948, is a political state with laws and borders like any other. The ‘Israel of God’ now includes all who are in Christ.”
