Life After Death: When a Shock to the Heart Revives the Soul

Life and Death

What would it take for your faith to be reborn—not as a system of beliefs, but as a living, breathing relationship?

For one woman, it took dying.

On June 25, 2020, her heart spiraled into a life-threatening rhythm known as SVT. Doctors had no choice but to shock her heart—while she was still awake. The procedure, called a cardioversion, brought her back physically. But what she didn’t expect was the spiritual cardioversion happening at the same time.

“That moment changed everything. I became bedridden and disabled—but I also began searching for healing like never before.”

Raised Southern Baptist, she knew the language of church and the form of religion. But what followed her near-death experience was something she had never known before: an encounter with the raw, undeniable voice of God.

“WHO AM I TO YOU?”

One year after her body collapsed and her spirit groaned under the weight of unanswered prayers, she heard it—clear, commanding, undeniable.

“One day He jolted me awake and said, ‘WHO AM I TO YOU?’ His voice was such power and force, and my spirit KNEW—this was the literal voice of God.”

She had been begging for healing but didn’t truly believe she deserved it.

“I could believe 100% for others. That day, He was saying to me: ‘It’s time for you to believe I am who I say I am—TO YOU. FOR YOU.’”

It wasn’t just about recovery anymore. It was about revelation. Her theology, once neatly built on rules and fear, started to unravel in the best way possible.

Life and death

From Religious Snob to Relentless Grace

“I was the biggest religious snob until I had a near-death experience. Then God turned my life upside down—in the best ways possible.”

Like many who grow up in performance-based religion, her image of God was tied to punishment, fear, and striving.

“I thought He tried to kill me to get my attention… to punish me for my past.”

But the deeper she pressed into God, the more she realized: the old image had to die.

“Now I KNOW the gifts are for today. I get to minister healing and miracles confidently to others in need of introduction to God’s heart and character as ‘Healer.’”

What once seemed like heresy has now become her calling.

Reflection: Could You Be Missing the Heart of God?

Her story isn’t just one of divine healing—it’s a mirror. A challenge. A whisper to your own heart.

Ask yourself:

  • Have I built my view of God on fear or on love?
  • What lies might still live beneath my theology?
  • Could it be time to ask Him: “Who are You to me?”

“I’m still processing old, junky beliefs. But I’m continually asking God to reveal to heal.”

The Takeaway: Grace Doesn’t Fit in a Box

This story reminds us that transformation often comes when we least expect it—and rarely how we plan. Sometimes it’s a slow unfolding. Sometimes, it’s a shock to the system.

Wherever you are in your journey, know this:

God isn’t looking for polished perfection. He’s not confined by your past, your doctrine, or your doubts. He’s after your heart—and He knows how to reach it.

So ask the question.
Wrestle with the fear.
Invite the jolt.
And dare to believe He is who He says He is—to you.
